WHY PHOTOGRAPHY?

In 2010, when I married Mitch, we had a low budget wedding and invested very little into the wedding day photography. Even though I had a great camera and had already began my photography journey at this point, I just considered it an art - something that was pretty. 

Fast forward to when my first child was born in 2011. My whole existence changed! Not only was I getting less sleep and time to do the things that I wanted but I also had this new weight of responsibility. This sweet child needed my nurture. He needed food, sleep and above all, my love. He needed a mother with a kind heart and eyes that SAW him and understood him. 

It was in this time that I became a photographer. I realised that inside this little black tool that I held in my hands I had the power to do something amazing - I could capture history! As a textbook introvert, I use my words sparingly. When my words don't flow, I tend to be watching, listening and observing. So, rather than use words to tell a story, I use photos. Moments pass, things happen but as often as I can, I pick up my camera and say "this moment will be remembered".

I now have 3 children, Ezra (7), Shiloh (5) and Jasper (1). Along with my husband, they are my greatest delight! I have made a commitment to stay home with them as long as I can which has stopped me from returning to the classroom where I spent 10 years teaching High School Mathematics. I spend my days looking after them, supporting my husband with his business, taking photos or furthering my education and skills in photography

My style, much like my temperament, is warm, gentle and authentic. I love light filled, naturally posed images and I edit to have colours that are true-to-life. Props are used sparingly and I focus on the subject, the lighting, and the background to create amazing images. My goal is to help you feel relaxed and have a wonderful experience in front of the camera, which always results in the most beautiful images.
